Lawrence K. Oliver, Ph.D.
Dr. Oliver joined Mayo Central Laboratory as scientific
director in 1997, bringing more than 25 years of academic and private sector
experience.
Previous responsibilities include:

of Chemistry at Stanford University
- Operations Manager and Assistant
Director of Research at Bio-Sciences Laboratories
- Director of The Clinical
Research Laboratories at The Upjohn Company
Currently Dr. Oliver is the Scientific Director of Mayo Clinical Trial Services
in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology
at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He is the past chair of the Mayo Laboratory
Society.

Dr. Oliver's research includes:

validation of biomarkers of safety and efficacy
Extramural activities
Dr.
Oliver is a fellow of the National Academy
of Clinical Biochemistry and author of numerous peer-reviewed articles in
Clinical Chemistry, Sleep Medicine, and Journal of the American Chemistry
Society.
At Mayo Clinic and around the country, Dr. Oliver teaches and lectures
extensively on the role of the clinical laboratory
in drug development, critical issues for the laboratory in drug development,
and surrogate markers in drug development.
Dr. Oliver received his B.Sc. from
California Institute of Technology and his Ph.D.
from Stanford University. He completed postdoctoral work at the Mental Health
Research Institute of the University of Michigan.
